CCSO

Coweta County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Raymond Hayes, 34, of Ellenwood, Georgia, and Jarri Curtis, 31, of Palmetto.

Two men are in custody of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly being caught with drugs in a road check on Dec. 20.

Coweta County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Raymond Hayes, 34, of Ellenwood, Georgia, and Jarri Curtis, 31, of Palmetto.

Curtis was charged with felony marijuana possession with intent to distribute, felony synthetic narcotic possession, felony narcotic possession and felony possession of a firearm during a commission of a crime.

Hayes was charged with two counts of felony narcotic possession with intent to distribute, felony morphine/opium/heroin trafficking, felony possession of a firearm during a commission of a crime and felony firearm possession by a convicted felon.

According to deputies in an incident report, their vehicle came up to a road check, and deputies reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The driver, Curtis, was told to put the vehicle in park and exit the car. On his person, according to deputies, was a handgun, seven bags of marijuana weighing approximately 40 grams, eight pills of adderall/amphetamine salts, a digital scale, 23 pills of oxycodone and $1,280 in cash.

The passenger, Hayes, reportedly had on his person one pound of marijuana, two bags containing around 56 grams total of ecstasy, which was referred to as a “trafficking amount,” a handgun, 52 empty marijuana bags and a pill bottle containing four pills of oxycodone.

The deputy reported that both Curtis and Hayes were “involved in the street-level distribution of marijuana,” and that Hayes is a convicted felon, having been found guilty in 2005 of a felony charge of distribution of narcotics. In addition, Hayes was convicted twice for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Curtis and Hayes were transported to the Coweta County Jail.
