The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage and other areas.

Win Wings Inc. (American Deli), 1053 E. Highway 34, Suite C, Newnan – was inspected Nov. 16 and received a score of 90-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed a box of raw fish stored beside uncut bell peppers and above a bag of onions in walk-in cooler. PIC moved fish to proper storage location during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed buildup on floors below dry storage racks, buildup inside light shields in kitchen and dining area, hole in wall below hand-wash sink. New violation. Observed broom and dustpan sitting beside ice machine. New violation. Observed employee items such as a phone, ear pods, cigarettes and cough drops over hand-wash and meat prep sink. Observed a water bottle and speaker on top of paper towel dispenser. Observed a phone and jacket beside a sleeve of plastic lids in cabinet below front food service counter, a charging cord beside a stack of styrofoam cups and a stuffed animal beside food containers, utensils and a box of ziploc bags. New violation.

Burger King #9411, 415 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan – was inspected Nov. 17 and received a score of 87-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed dishwasher not reaching temperature needed for sanitizing. Use three-compartment sink. New violation. Observed deli meat ham setting on counter at 64 F. Ham discarded during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed multiple items under the heat lamp without time markings, several items in the pass-thru drawer not on time. Items under heat lamp marked with time and items in pass-thru drawer discarded during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Einstein Bros. Bagels, 311 Bullsboro Drive, Suite 100, Newnan – was inspected Nov. 16 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed black buildup on drink nozzles in front self-serve lobby area. Nozzles cleaned during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed single-service cups stored by the drive-thru and soft drink station with lip area exposed. Plastic sleeve rolled up to protect lip area during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, 398 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan – was inspected Nov. 16 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed low floor grout and chipped tile in fryer area. New violation.

Positano Pizza Napoletana, 316 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Suite A, Newnan – was inspected Nov. 16 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed sanitizing solution at three-compartment sink not dispensing sanitizing solution. PIC fixed sanitizing line during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed employee food on food prep surfaces. Employee items moved during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Waffle House #1074, 1030 Highway 34 E., Newnan – was inspected Nov. 16 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: Need to post food service permit. New violation. Observed spoon handle laying in sliced lemons in reach-in cooler New violation. Observed a glass of milk in reach-in cooler with desserts, milk discarded during inspection. Observed an employee cup and drink in disposable cup with lid on bottom shelf with salt. New violation.

J&T Hospitalities, Inc. DBA Wings and Things Senoia, 10 W. Village Drive, Senoia, was inspected Nov. 16 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: No Certified Food Protection Manager Repeat violation. Observed chemicals stored beside single-use straws and bottles of ketchup behind bar. PIC moved chemicals to appropriate location. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed old inspection with score of 88 posted; most recent inspection had score of 80. New violation. Observed wrapped single-use cups stored on floor behind bar and multiple stacks of single-use items with food surface exposed in dry storage and kitchen. PIC moved cups and inverted other items. Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar, 971 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan – was inspected Nov. 29 and received a score of 83-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed sanitizer buckets not testing adequately for sanitizer, buckets remade during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed rice 49.9 F stored in cooler drawer and rice 48 F from walk-in cooler. Rice discarded during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Current inspection report not posted. Chylaca’s Mexican Restaurant and Grill, 20 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan – was inspected Nov. 30 and received a score of 85-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed in prep-top cooler: raw chicken behind raw beef; in walk-in cooler: raw chicken above/beside raw beef, raw sausage beside shelled eggs and raw ground beef beside/above raw beef. Inspector’s comments: Observed refried beans and peeled onions stored uncovered in walk-in cooler. New violation. McDonald’s #11437, 1425 Highway 29 S., Newnan – was inspected Nov. 23 and received a score of 81-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed sliced cheese, lettuce and ham slices stored in cooler drawer with raw bacon and shell eggs. Cheese, lettuce and ham moved to separate cooler during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed black buildup on back wall of ice machine. New violation. Observed sauce on bottom of container on clean dish rack, container returned to three-compartment sink to be rewashed, rinsed and sanitized. Observed old date mark stickers on plastic food containers on clean dish rack and one cracked food pan on clean dish rack; damaged food pans should be discarded. New violation. Observed peroxide spray stored next to a box of sauces below foodline, grill cleaner over grill next to seasoning and sanitizer packets on soda refill boxes. Pizza Hut #39379, 124 Jefferson St., Newnan – was inspected Nov. 23 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed a bottle of liquid Tylenol and a bag of medications stored over unfolded pizza boxes on single-use storage rack. Medications moved during inspections. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed plastic food containers wet stacked on dish drying rack. New violation. Observed a stack of black portion cups stored with food area facing upward, cups should be stored inverted to protect the food area from possible contamination. New violation. Observed buildup on all wire racks throughout kitchen area, inside reach-in cooler and walk-in cooler. Need to clean outside of bulk cinnamon sugar bin. New violation. Inspector’s comments: Observed asparagus in front of raw fish in cooler drawers and in walk-in cooler: shelled eggs beside half and half and raw sausage above raw steak. Pathways Center, 74 Hospital Road, Newnan – was inspected Dec. 6 and received a score of 100-A.

Tomo, 90 Glenda Trace, Newnan – was inspected Dec. 6 and received a score of 78-C. Inspector’s comments: Observed employee reach into trash then proceed to wash hands without using soap and not using paper towel to turn water off. Employee instructed on proper hand-washing procedure and rewashed hands during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed wash rag washed rinsed out in hand-washing sink at sushi station. Inspector’s comments: Observed sanitizing solution in the three-compartment sink and two sanitizing buckets not testing to minimum strength. Sanitizing solution remade during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed sliced tomatoes in the reach-in cooler at 52 F and chicken salad in the reach-in cooler at 46 F with tight fitting lids on top of them.
