A year after leading the Trinity Christian defense to the 2021 state championship, Mercer Bears linebacker Christian Hanson was named to the All-Southern Conference all-freshman team.

Hanson played in 10 of Mercer’s 11 games last season and recorded 31 total tackles, including two for loss.

Hanson had three tackles and a fumble recovery in the Bears’ 55-14 win over the Virginia Military Institute. In his second college game, Hanson went on the road to Jordan-Hare Stadium and started against the Auburn Tigers.

Mercer finished the season 7-4 under Coach Drew Cronic, who played at East Coweta High School along with Hanson’s father, Chris Hanson.
