Newnan Police holding fifth annual car show Oct. 29

Newnan Police Department

The Newnan Police Department will hold its fifth annual Car, Truck and 4x4 Show on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Newnan Police Department will hold its fifth annual Car, Truck and 4x4 Show on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The car show will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds, located at 275 Pine Road in Newnan. The event is free.

“There will be some cool cars,” said Sgt. Edward Lee in a press release. “We’ll have some police vehicles, including our big SWAT vehicle. Kids can get on a fire truck and inside a police car, with the chance to take plenty of pictures.”

Registration for car show participants starts at 8 a.m. and is $20. All participants in the car show will be included in a drawing for one of two $100 cash prizes, as well as other prizes.

The first 150 who pre-register will receive a gift. Awards for the show include People’s Choice, Kid’s Choice and the Chief’s Award.

Spectators will get to enjoy a 50/50 raffle, games, food, music and prizes. In addition, there will be a Kid Zone with a bike rodeo, trunk or treat and kids’ Halloween costume contest.

Lee said there will be free helmets for kids and several bikes could be won in the bike rodeo.

Proceeds for the event will go towards the Newnan Police Department’s Christmas with a Cop and Guitars Not Guns programs.

Last year’s Shop with a Cop was able to supply 86 children with the Christmas spirit, as they were treated to a free breakfast two weeks before Christmas and were allowed to shop for themselves with the assistance of a law enforcement officer.

“This is a great chance for people to come out, show off their cars and support local law enforcement,” Lee said. “The car show participants will enjoy sitting and talking to each other, bragging about their cars and learning about other vehicles. There will be plenty of food, and with the kids’ activities, it’s just a great time to bring the whole family and enjoy it all.”

Those looking to sponsor the event have several opportunities to do so as well.

An Officer sponsor, at $500, gets recognition on the event T-shirt as well as in the program and an opportunity to place an item in the swag bag. Other sponsorship levels include Sergeant at $1,000, Lieutenant at $1,500, Captain at $2,500, Major at $5,000, Chief at $7,500 and Presenting Sponsor at $10,000.

For more information or to sponsor the event, contact Sgt. Edward Lee at 770-254-2355, ext. 140, or elee@cityofnewnan.org .
