Lena Elizabeth "Beth" Woods Walker, 74, of Newnan passed away Monday, September 26, 2022.

Beth was born January 4, 1948, at the old Newnan Hospital to the late Bill Moody Woods & Harrisonel Hyde Woods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William "Billy" Harrison Walker, and husband, James "Jimmy" Nolen Walker.

Beth grew up in Newnan and was a member of the Newnan High School class of 1966. After high school, she attended Shorter College and then West Georgia College where she obtained her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. While attending West Georgia, she married her high school love, Jimmy, and they spent 52 wonderful years together. She began teaching at the old Grantville Brown Elementary School for a year before moving to Elm Street Elementary for 16 years. She finished her career teaching for 11 years at Thomas Crossroads Elementary School.

Her commitment to the teaching profession remained after retirement with her involvement in the teacher's sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa. Beth served as the president of ADK and was currently the publicity chair. Beth was a lifelong devoted member of Liberty Christian Church.

She dedicated many hours to her beloved church where she served as the church pianist, secretary, treasurer, president of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and a deacon. Beth made a lasting impact on so many people, and she will be greatly missed.

The family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2022, with the funeral beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Christian Church, 19 Velma Drive, Newnan, GA 30263 or to the Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship Fund, c/o Tyra Elliott, 25 Woods Ford Road, Sharpsburg, GA 30277.

Survivors include daughter, Amy Headley & husband Matt; granddaughters, Megan Headley, Caroline Headley; numerous extended family and friends.
