Elbert Ray Yeager, Sr., 92, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at his home in Newnan.
Ray was born March 24, 1930, in Newnan to the late Marvin L. Yeager and Annie Lou Boswell Yeager. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Emma Frances Helton Yeager, five brothers, and one sister.
Ray grew up in Newnan and honorably served his country in the Army. After his military service, he moved back to his beloved hometown where he farmed his ancestral land and worked 39 years with the Coweta County Department of Corrections where he retired as Deputy Warden. Ray and his family were longtime, active members of Oak Lawn Baptist Church.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2022, in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Pastor David Arrington & Mike Yeager officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Thursday evening between 6-8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Oak Lawn Baptist Church, 482 Pine Road, Newnan, GA 30263.

Survivors include children, Pam (Glen) Gentry, Kathy (David) Arrington, Judy Stringer, Ray (Ashley) Yeager, Jr., brothers, Tony Yeager, Tommy Yeager; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
