With the help of 1,000 Facebook shares, a man wanted for stealing money from an elderly woman was located and arrested Monday.

Tyler Scott English, 29, of Newnan was taken into custody in Carroll County.

“Thank you Carroll County Sheriff's Office for locating Mr. English and arresting him,” wrote the Newnan Police Department, which had issued a BOLO earlier in the day, in a Facebook update. “A big thank you to all of you great citizens out there! Within five hours we've had almost 1,000 shares just to locate this one person, which resulted in his arrest. You're all amazing!”

Authorities say English posed as an employee of Newnan Utilities to gain entry to the home of an 80-year-old woman. Once inside, English allegedly stole money from the woman’s purse.

He faces felony charges of first degree burglary and exploitation of elder persons.
