Thomas Singleton Griffin, 73, of Whitesburg passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Tom was born June 10, 1949, in Ducktown, TN to the late Charlie Griffin & Cleo Hicks Griffin.
For many years, Tom worked as an aircraft refueler with Delta Airlines. For a few years after his retirement from Delta, he decided he wanted to see the country and became a long haul 18-wheeler driver. Tom was a quiet, private man who was intellectually gifted. His knowledge of subjects from animals in Africa to the mechanics of most anything was impressive to those who he befriended. His love of animals was evident in the number of dogs he brought home and cared for. Tom’s love of God drew him to the Catholic faith where he was recently baptized and confirmed.
The Funeral Mass is 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at St. George Catholic Church in Newnan with Father Stephen Lyness officiating. Entombment will follow at 4 p.m. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Villa Rica. The visitation is Monday evening between 5-7 at McKoon Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Because of Tom’s love of animals, the family requests contributions to the Newnan Coweta Humane Society, 608 Hwy 29 N, Newnan, GA 30263 or https://www.nchsrescue.org/donate
