The Newnan Times-Herald

The rent is up in Newnan, according to the June report from Apartment List.

According to the report, the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Newnan has climbed 1.5 percent over the last month to an average of $1,470 per month, and has increased 15.9 percent in comparison to last year.

The report states that this is the fourth straight month that Newnan has seen apartment rent increases after a decline in January.

Rent increases have been seen all over the metro-Atlanta area, with other metro areas seeing average rent prices far ahead of Newnan’s.

For instance, the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Woodstock, north of Atlanta, is $1,930, up 17.1 percent from the last year.

The cost of rent has gone up the sharpest in Tucker, according to the report. The median two-bedroom apartment there costs $1,595 per month, up 25 percent over the last year.

As a whole, according to the report, rent has increased on average across the state. The state has averaged a rent increase of 17.2 percent over the last year. In Atlanta, rent has gone up by 14.2 percent, up by 9.8 percent in August and 9.5 percent in Columbus.

Nationwide, rent has gone up by 15.3 percent over the last year, for a national average of $1,320.

According to Apartment List, the data is used by taking median rent statistics from the Census Bureau, then extrapolated to the current month using a growth rate using the site’s listing data.
