Elrod shines at All-Star Game

Emma Elrod, who committed to continue her softball career at Jacksonville State University last fall, went 3-for-4 in the doubleheader on Tuesday at the West Georgia Softball Complex in Carrollton.

The 2021 Region 2-7A Region Player of the Year, Emma Elrod from East Coweta, was back on the field this week in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Junior All-Star Game.

Elrod, who committed to continue her softball career at Jacksonville State University last fall, went 3-for-4 in the doubleheader on Tuesday at the West Georgia Softball Complex in Carrollton. In addition, she competed and won the outfield throwing accuracy contest.

Elrod is about to embark on her senior year at East Coweta and, along with fellow senior Kip Heggood, seeks to return to Columbus for the state finals tournament. Elrod hit .411 last season with eight home runs and 33 RBIs.

The East Coweta Lady Indians open their 2022 season with a scrimmage against Central Carrollton on Monday, Aug. 8, and they play their regular-season opener on Wednesday, Aug. 10, against Troup County. Both games will be at home.

The 2021 East Coweta Lady Indians finished the season 27-3 and were the state Class 7A runner-up to North Gwinnett.
