Bike Coweta was recently recognized as “Friend of the Year” in the North Georgia Region by the Georgia Safe Routes to School Resource Center.

The award comes from efforts of the local advocacy group, including a downtown speed study which eventually resulted in the lowering of the speed limit throughout downtown Newnan, and a walking audit conducted by the organization along with Councilman Rhodes Shell.

"Two preschools, three elementary schools, one high school, and one college campus are all located within a 1-mile radius of the Courthouse Square,” said Chris Doane with Bike Coweta. “We’ll continue advocating to make downtown Newnan a safer place for pedestrians to walk and ride their bicycles.”
