YMCA opens Summer Day Camp registration

The Newnan Times-Herald

This week, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta announced registration for all sessions of summer day camp is open to the public.

Camps will be offered at 18 locations, including Newnan, and sign-up space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration can be completed online or in-person at Y locations.

The Y offers both traditional and specialty day camps for children during the summer months. Programs include arts and crafts, group games and outdoor exploration with archery and canoeing at designated locations.

Specialty camps are also available, which focus on sports, arts, gymnastics, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), teen leadership and swim.

“At the Y, we are committed to helping children achieve their potential by creating safe and active environments for them to engage throughout the summer,” said Lauren Koontz, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. “We take pride in being a place for children to learn, grow and build new friendships.”

To support its camps, the Y is looking to hire nearly 100 individuals to fill summer positions throughout metro Atlanta. Available jobs include camp counselors, lifeguards, teachers, coaches, service representatives, coordinators, bus drivers and more. To apply, visit ymcaatlanta.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/YMCA-Careers.

Individuals may register for traditional camps on a daily or weekly basis, while specialty camps require weekly sign-ups. For registration, please visit spiritonline.ymcaatlanta.org.

The Summit Family YMCA is located at 1765 East Hwy 34, Newnan, GA 30265. Director Becky Salvanera can be reached at RebeccaS@ymcaatlanta.org
