Members of the Newnan City Council were sworn in on Tuesday to start their next terms in office at the start of the first city council meeting of 2022.
Keith Brady, who has served as Mayor of Newnan since taking the seat in 1994, was sworn in for another term, and Councilmen Ray DuBose and Rhodes Shell were also sworn in to start their term.
DuBose and Shell, who have served on the Newnan City Council since 2006, both represent the north-central District 2 in the council. Both were sworn in on Tuesday to start their next terms in office.
Brady and DuBose were re-elected without opposition back in November, while Shell defeated challenger Scott Barronton in the Post A seat in District 2.
In addition to being sworn in, DuBose was named the Mayor Pro Tem for the 2022 calendar year.
As Mayor Pro Tem, DuBose would serve as the presiding officer over a city council meeting in the event of Keith Brady’s absence.
The results of the November election were certified by the Newnan City Council during the meeting on Tuesday, just before the swearing in of Brady, DuBose and Shell.
