VFW Post 2667 in Newnan is once again sponsoring post-level patriotic essay contests for Coweta middle and high school students.
The Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest is open to students in grades 6-8, including those in public, private and home schools. Entrants will submit essays consisting of 300-400 words on this year’s theme, “How Can I Be a Good American?”
The Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest is open to students in grades 9-12, including those in public, private and home schools. Students will be judged on an audio essay, submitted on a flash drive, on this year’s theme, “America: Where Do We Go From Here?”
All schools in Coweta County have been sent information and entry forms, and interested students are encouraged to contact their teachers for more information.
Deadline for both contests is Oct. 29.
Post 2667 will select first, second and third place winners, who will receive certificates and cash awards and advance to district level competition. All students who submit entries will receive certificates of participation.
