The Newnan Times-Herald

Qualifying for Newnan City Council seats in the November general election will be held this month.

Three seats will be up for grabs in November on the Newnan City Council: the seat of Mayor and the two seats from Election District Two.

The Mayor’s seat is currently held by Keith Brady, while Rhodes Shell and Ray DuBose currently hold the two seats in Election District 2, which is on the north and northwest side of the city of Newnan.

Qualifying will begin Monday, August 16 and run through Wednesday, August 18. The hours for qualifying will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with an hour allowed for lunch.

The qualifying fee for council seats will be $150, while the qualifying fee for the mayoral seat will be $300.

Candidates looking to qualify shall file a notice of his or her candidacy and pay the qualifying fee to Megan Shea, Newnan City Clerk, at her office, located at Newnan City Hall at 25 Lagrange Street.

The election will be held Nov. 2, and will be held along a referendum to determine whether or not the city of Newnan can issue licenses for stores selling distilled spirits in package form.
