Newnan Theatre Company is currently accepting fall enrollment for its school-age theatre classes, and grant-supported scholarships will be available.
NTC has two programs: The Academy of Theatre Arts musical program for elementary and middle school students and The Actor’s Workshop for high school students.
This is the 10th year NTC has offered its popular after-school classes, but this is the first year NTC has been able to offer grant-supported scholarships to its students. Thanks to a generous donation from the Coweta Community Foundation, Inc., NTC will offer 10 students paid tuition for the entire school year.
Students must come from families that have been impacted by the tornado that struck Newnan and parts of Coweta County in March. Any student attending school between second and 12th grades may enroll, with or without a scholarship. There is an enrollment cap, and all seats are usually filled by the beginning of school in August.
All classes begin in August, and each student will take a two-hour class every week, with a performance in November. Academy students will perform at Wadsworth Auditorium, and The Actor’s Workshop students will perform at NTC.
In addition to performing, all students learn acting, movement, direction, character development, script analysis, musical theatre, vocal technique and choreography.
The cost of each class is $300. This includes instruction, scripts, cast T-shirt, and headshot. For more information visit www.newnantheatre.org or call 770-683-6282.
