East Coweta starting quarterback Daniel Shoch committed this week to continue his college football career for the Mercer Bears in Macon, Georgia.
Mercer is under the leadership of Head Coach Drew Cronic, who was the starting quarterback for East Coweta from 1990 to 1992.
The Bears play at Mercer’s Five Star Stadium and compete in the Southern Conference.
Shoch has started all three years of his college career. For the first two years, he was at Selinsgrove High School in Pennsylvania before moving to Sharpsburg last year. For the three years, he has completed 306 passes for 4,136 yards and 36 touchdowns.
He said he made his decision based on Scripture from Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
“I’ve prayed and trusted the Lord with this decision and trusted him to open and close doors for me, God will place me where he wants to use me,” Shoch said.
The Indians open Shoch’s senior season on Saturday August 21 against Whitewater in the Coweta/Fayette Classic.
