The Summit Family YMCA recently announced a partnership with Georgia Veteran Suicide Prevention Task Force and Coweta County Family Connection Collaborative to host Coweta Giving to Heroes.
The event, set for April 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will benefit Coweta heroes, including veterans, law enforcement, first responders and their respective families.
The Y is seeking local businesses, places of worship, individuals and groups to join the Y in honoring Coweta County heroes by providing items for resource bags, including thank you cards, business swag, flyers, gift cards and discount coupons.
Donations can be dropped off at the Summit Family YMCA located at 1765 E. Highway 34, Newnan, GA 30265 by April 21. In addition, donors can contact the Summit Y to arrange pickup for any items.
“We’re proud to partner with Georgia Veteran Suicide Prevention Task Force to further our mission of celebrating and helping veterans in our community,” said Shane Gann, group vice president of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. “Partnerships like this help our organization expand our outreach and provide resources encouraging a healthy mind, body and spirit.”
Coweta Giving to Heroes was created this year to give back to heroes who have worked tirelessly during the ongoing pandemic. The Y, Georgia Veteran Suicide Prevention Task Force and Coweta County Family Connection Collaborative saw an opportunity to strengthen and celebrate heroes in the local community.
“This event provides the community with an opportunity to show appreciation for veterans, police officers and first responders during an extremely difficult year,” said Veda Brooks, director of Women Veterans Office for the Georgia Department of Veterans Service.
