High school teacher wins at VFW state level

East Coweta High School teacher Elizabeth Thompson recently won the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Contest at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Georgia State Level.

She was recently awarded a certificate, a trophy with a glass engraved award, a large certificate of appreciation from VFW National for being a department level winner and a large certificate from VFW National for the school, as well as a monetary award.

VFW Post 2667 previously presented awards to the following teachers who were first place Post winners

in the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Contest for elementary, middle and high school levels.

All three teachers also won first place at the district level judging. The district consists of 14 VFW Posts.

Teachers are nominated based on promoting civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism in the classroom.

High School Level
