Regarding your recent article regarding Pearl Presley and her "Tax-exempt house church," I would like to add my personal observation.
I have known Pearl Presley for over ten years and find her to be an honest, giving, caring person who lives her faith. My wife and I have visited her home and also attended two of her religious services. The services and attendance were small but, while noninvasive to the community, openly publicized. I would describe them as prayer meetings.
Since she operated her "church" for some eleven years before applying for tax-exempt status, it is obvious that she did not start it as some kind of ploy for tax exemption. If she did anything wrong, it was simply an honest mistake with no nefarious intent.
I am proud to claim Dr. Pearl as my friend and hope she can find some way to continue her ministry.
