A Newnan man wanted in connection to a fatal shooting is now under arrest.
London Tyree Snelling, 20, is charged with murder, according to jail documents.
Snelling is believed to be connected to the shooting death of 28-year-old Tavarus Menjuan Mitchell last Sunday.
The incident occurred at the Eastgate Apartments at 11 Dowdell St. where Mitchell was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a stairwell, according to Deputy Chief Mark Cooper with the Newnan Police Department.
First responders attempted life-saving measures and transported Mitchell to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, Cooper said.
Based on information obtained by police during the week, Snelling was arrested Wednesday, but Cooper said the incident remains under investigation.
Snelling was previously arrested in October 2019 on charges of carrying a weapon without a license.
In September of 2020, he was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, marijuana possession, possession of controlled substance near a park or housing project, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
