Court officers now have an extra layer of protection, thanks to the Newnan Coweta Public Safety Foundation.

The organization recently donated four Swift Shields to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office for use in the county’s courtrooms. The foldable ballistic barriers, which cost $3,500 each, weigh about 8 pounds and can be quickly deployed to their full size of 24x36 inches.

Funded through donations, the foundation not only supplies needed equipment but also assists public safety employees in times of medical or financial hardship. In addition, the organization provides annual scholarships for children of public safety employees.

Tax-deductible donations may be made to NCPS at P.O. Box 1113, Newnan, Georgia, 30264.
