Marvin Bernard Johnson, Jr of Newnan, GA passed away October 23, 2020.

He was born to Marvin Bernard Johnson, Sr and Irene Davis Johnson on November 14, 1928 in North Hampton County,NC.

Marvin lived in Newnan, Georgia for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club for decades, participating in the mentor program. He supported the Baptist Children's Homes of NC, East Carolina University, and other organizations.

Beginning with the Air Force, his career was flying .. .cargo planes; fighter planes; passenger and private planes. He loved flying them all. Marvin also enjoyed building things and acquired at least one patent.

After retirement, he developed several products which became the basis of successful businesses. These products have contributed to safer environments for children for decades.

Marvin was preceded in death by Joyce Swinson Johnson, his wife of 62 years, and two siblings. Surviving siblings are Miriam Rasberry, Trilby Mays and Louis Johnson.

He is also survived by son, Marvin B. Johnson, III; daughters, Cynthia Joy Johnson and Candace Gay Johnson; and grandchildren, Jacob Hamilton Moore, Swinson Matthews Moore, Caitlin Christine Johnson and Catherine Lillian Johnson.

A lovely graveside service was held on October 26 attended by family and friends. Marvin was laid to rest in his hometown and favorite place on earth --Pendleton, NC. The family requests donations in memory be made to the Baptist Children's Home of North Carolina, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361-0338.
