The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year. Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.
Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks for compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage and other areas.
Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill, 971 Bullsboro Drive, inspected Sept. 28, 2020, received a score of 89-B. Observed the following foods above 41 F in the prep top cooler: pico at 51 F, Parmesan cream at 58 F, sour cream at 54 F, ranch dressing at 56 F, sliced tomatoes at 45 F, sour cream at 51 F, diced tomatoes at 43 F, and spinach dip at 58 F. Observed the following foods above 41 F in the region coolers: ribs at 54 F, steak at 45 F, ribs at 47 F in tomato soup at 47 F. Corrective action was taken during inspection. Observed heavy lime build up on the inside of dish machine, dish machine should be cleaned at a frequency to prevent accumulation. Observed missing broken tiles and low grout in the grill and dishwashing areas.
Chick-fil-A, 5 Glenda Trace, inspected Sept. 25, 2020, received a score of 94-A. Observe dried food particles on large slicer blade, returned to dish area during inspection. Several plastic food containers and lids with old date mark stickers on outside of containers. Stickers should be removed completely prior to washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes. Dish machine not operating during inspection. Person in charge stated he would call for maintenance. Three compartment sink set up during inspection and tested adequately for sanitizer. Observed scoop handle laying and sugar inside sugar bin, scoop handle fixed above sugar during inspection. Observed several brooms and dust pans leaning against walls and main kitchen area. Observed small hole in wall next to hand wash sink and reach-in coolers used for thawing. Observed cracked light shield above doorway close to mop well area.
Chicken Salad Chic, 214 Newnan Crossing Bypass, inspected Sept. 24, 2020 received a score of 98-A. Observed cups over stacked at food service counter. Observed water dripping from bottom of prep top cooler.
D'Anthony's Grill & Bar, 89 Herring Road, inspected Sept. 28, 2020, received a score of 87-B. No certified food safety manager. Observed dish machine not testing for sanitizer. Observed expired foods including deli turkey with the date of 9/8/2020, and milk with the date 9/15/2020.
Fat Boys Bar and Grill, 485 Highway 16 West, inspected Sept. 23, 2020, received a score of 80-B. Observed ground beef stored between raw chicken and shelled eggs next to ready to eat food. Items removed during inspection. Observed raw chicken and raw hamburger patties stored uncovered. Observed pink and black build up on ice machine baffle and build up on drink nozzles at the bar. Observed smoked chicken wings with out of date or label. Observed egg wash exceeding 7 days. Observe deli ham meat with expiration date of Aug. 29, 2020. Food item was discarded during inspection.
Holiday Inn Express, 4 Herring Road, inspected Sept. 29, 2020, received a perfect score of 100-A.
Marco's Pizza, 1111 Bullsboro Drive Suite 4, inspected Sept. 23, 2020, received a score of 92-A. Observed sanitizer at three compartment sink that was below minimum strength. Observed open bag of flour stored on floor. Observed customer belongings stored on dry storage shelf beside and above consumer food.
My Chef Mel, 75 Francis Shirley Way, inspected Sept. 24, 2020, received a perfect score of 100-A.
Nic & Norman's, 20 Main St., Senoia, inspected Sept. 28, 2020, received a score of 82-B. Observed food stored in prep top cooler and grill area at temperatures above proper cold holding temperature of 41 F such as pimento cheese, romaine lettuce, spring mix, spinach, shaved beef, pot pie filling, and ambient temperature of 44 F. Observed two chemical spray bottles and chemical storage area with no labels. Chemicals labeled during inspection. Observed three fly strips hanging in main kitchen area. Fly strips removed during inspection. Shell eggs stored over jarred desserts and walk-in cooler, moved to lower shelf during inspection. Observed ice cream scoop in water at 126 F. Water must maintain temperature of 135 F if scoop is stored in water between use. Observed two bowls being used as scoops and frozen food items and reach-in cooler. Scoops must have handles. Observed dust build up on ceiling vent covers and tile surrounding ceiling vents. Observed employee phones and drinks on upper shelves above food prep area and main kitchen and in beverage storage station area. Observed one missing light shield over doorway and kitchen area.

Pathways Center, 74 Hospital Road, inspected Sept. 23, 2020, received a score of 99-A. Observed inspection report from Jan. 9, 2020 on display, not the most recent report from June 29, 2020.
Positano Pizza Napoletana, 316 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Suite A, inspected Sept. 25, 2020, received a score of 92-A. Observed hand wash sink in the back of the kitchen without soap. Observed hand wash sink near pizza oven without paper towels. Observed expired milk with the date of 9/15/2020. Observed employee drinks on food prep services and storage area next to consumer food.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, 202 Newnan Crossing Blvd., inspected Sept. 25, 2020, received a score of 88-B. Observed temperatures above 41 F and prep top cooler to the right of fryers and prep top cooler and server section. Observed in dry storage a bag of fish fry and a bag of noodles open.
Subway, 285 Temple Ave., inspected Sept. 25, 2020, received a score of 91-A. Observed bread pan stacked on hand wash sink. Pants moved during inspection. Observe dried tomato and lettuce particles and food slicers. Slicers moved three compartments sink to be clean. Observed employee drinks on food prep service next to consumer food.
