The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.
Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.
American Deli,1053 Bullsboro Dr., was inspected August 28 and received a perfect score of 100-A.
Big Chic of Senoia, 7280 E. Hwy 16. Ste. A, was inspected August 26 and received a score of 91-A. Observed sanitizer bucket and front food service area not testing for sanitizer. Sanitizer bucket remade during the inspection. Observed bulk flower bin with no label. Sugar bin was labeled but hard to read, should re-label bucket so more legible. Bin's re-labeled during inspection. Observed one torn gasket on reaching cooler door in front food service area. Observed build-up on wire racks and walk-in cooler. Observed dust on the cover of the freestanding fan beside prep top cooler. Observed a hole in the wall below three-compartment sink. Faucet at three-compartment sink continuously running. Grease build up below fryers. Floors, walls, ceiling, are hard to reach areas should be cleaned at a frequency to prevent accumulation. Observed a bucket of soiled mop water and mop in main kitchen area, mop, water, should be discarded after use and mop hung to dry and designated storage area. Observed a broom stored underneath this drying rack across the three-compartment sink. New violation. Observed employee phone and personal cup on counter beside steam well and main kitchen and employee personal cup below front food service counter next to condiments.
Bodyplex Newnan, 60 Thomas Grace Annex was inspected August 31 and received a score of 92-A. Observed quaternary ammonium seltzer sanitizer not at proper strength for manual washing in the three-compartment sink. Observed plastic containers with lids stored on floor below dish rack. All food storage containers should be stored off the floor. Observe no hot water at handwash sink or three-compartment sink. Person in charge stated hot water heater is being repaired. Observe ceiling tiles removed over reach-in cooler freezer and over chemical storage. Observed maintenance items stored below the clean dish rack, the maintenance items should be kept separate.
Canongate Golf Club, 924 Shaw Rd. Inspected on August 28th and received a score of 85-B. Observed cooked sausage patties stored on an open package of raw sausage patties, discarded during inspection. Observe packages of sanitizer wipes stored on bottom shelf of dry storage rack with bottles of vinegar and paper plates. Observed sanitizer wipes stored with single-use items and cabinet and front food service area. Observed packages of paper plates stored with chemical bottles. Chemicals move to proper storage area during inspection. Observed spoon handle lying in fruit and prep top cooler, move during the inspection. Observe scoop handle lying and grits on dry storage shelf. Observe single-use items stored facing upward not protecting the food area such as plates above the prep top cooler, plastic bowls beside the ice machine. Bowls on shelf next to glass plates on food prep line. Broom leaning against shelf outside the walk-in cooler. Observed employee drinks on multiple shelves next to equipment on counter beside prep sink on table next to single-service items and main kitchen area and a purse on tray over copy coffee mugs and front food service area. DUNC’s BBQ Kitchen, 98 Jackson St. was inspected on August 26th and received a score of 95-A. Observed coleslaw misdated. Observed scoop handle touching food and bin.
Elegant Catering and Decor LLC, 68 Heery Rd. was inspected August 24th and received a score of 9-6A.
Frank's Family Restaurant, 1188 Collinsworth Rd. was inspected September 1st and received a score of 97-A. Observed score behind glasses. Observed missing hand wash signs by two handwashing sinks. Observe broken gasket and walk-in freezer. Observed missing and falling ceiling tile and kitchen.
Golden Krust, 1485 Hwy. 34 E, Suite C2 was inspected August 31st and received a score of 91-A. Observed pork in the walk-in cooler reaching temperatures at 46.2 and 50° f.
Isabel Mexican Grill, 8116 Hwy. 16 inspected August 26th and received a score of 81B. Observed food stored above 41° f in reach-in cooler and prep top above and grill area including prep top diced tomatoes, guacamole, and shredded cheese. Observed multiple prepped and prepared items stored in reach-in and walk-in cooler with no date label. Observe sanitizer and wiping cloth bucket not at minimum concentration. Observed spoons and forks stored incorrectly. Utensils should be stored handle side up. observed employee phone stored on top of ice cooler. Observed employee drinks stored in prep top counters. Observe observed employee food stored on shelf above prep top counter. Person in charge moved all items to appropriate location.
JR's BBQ, 2421 Corinth Rd. inspected August 27th and received a score of 100-A.
Kimball's Food by Design, 100 East Highway 34 was inspected August 31st received a score of 92-A. Observed multiple dented cans stored on storage self. Observed no chlorine test strips for sanitizer bucket. Observe single-use bowl used as scoop and salt container. Observed air conditioning vents dripping condensation onto surfaces below them.
Mad Mexican, 2 East Court Sq., inspected August 27th received a score of 95-A. Observe dish machine not testing adequately for sanitizer. Observed metal food containers wet stacked on dish drying rack.
Magic Wings and Things 2, 2235 E Hwy. 34 was inspected August 31st received a score of 95-A. Observed frozen food stored in grocery bags, food should be stored in a food-grade container, not in a bag intended for single-use that cannot be properly washed, rinsed, and sanitized prior to use. Observe three metal cooking pots stored on the floor below the three-compartment sink. All cooking equipment should be stored on the floor. Observe a small hole in the wall behind reaching cooler.
Meat n’ Greet, 11 Jefferson St. inspected August 28th received a score of 88-B. Observe coleslaw at 47.3° f cream cheese at 48.3° f in prep top cooler. Observed bean and corn salsa at 47.8° f and reaching cooler. Food items from the prep top and reaching cooler with discarded during inspection. Observe three sanitizing solutions not reaching minimum strength. New sanitizing solution was made during inspection.

O'Charley's, 454 Bullsboro Dr. was inspected September 1st and received a score of 86-B. Observed food items on cooler above 41° f in prep top across from oven. Observed expired orange juice and walking cooler. Observe chipped and low grout in main area and indoor way of walking cooler. Observed employee items on prep top including cell phone and keys. Observed employee drinks besides single-use drink cups.
Outside The Box Coffee, 135 Main St., Senoia was inspected August 18th received a score of 95A. Observed handwash sink in main kitchen not operating, staff utilizing handwash sink in front food service area. Observed employee drinks stored in metal container on lower shelf with cooking spray. Aprons hanging on dry storage rack move during inspection.
Peking Restaurant, 7280 Hwy. 16, Senoia inspected September 1st received a score of 78-C. Observe both handwash sinks blocked upon arrival of inspection. Observed raw chicken stored over raw shrimp and raw beef raw shrimp stored beside raw beef and raw chicken. Observed one bottle of household grade pesticide stored under the three-compartment sink. All pest control should be applied by a certain pest control specialist. Observed a bottle of vitamins stored above prep top cooler. Observed a box of brandy Band-Aids stored above prep top cooler. Observed multiple open bags of food such as rice, flour, and seasoning. Observed large bottles of oil stored on the floor. Observed rice scoop stored in room temperature water, scoops stored in water between used must be held in water that is 105° for in a running dipper well. Observed missing ceiling tile over hand wash sink and main kitchen area, stained ceiling tile and dining area and in main kitchen area, build up on food filters, build up on walking cooler door gasket and prep top cooler door gaskets. Screen door and back of kitchen does not seal, doors should not should be kept closed to prevent pass from entering the kitchen. Observed mop broom and dustpan leaning at handwash sink and back door. Ladder next to hand washing. Observe several employee bottle drinks on prep counters, phones on prep counters, personal food items stored on dry storage shelf with ingredients for the restaurant.
Pizza Hut, 124 Jefferson St. was inspected August 18th and received a score of 97-A. No hand wash signs and restrooms. Observe buildup on racks. Observe missing wall tiles around corner wall, missing ceiling tile with exposed insulation.
Poke City, 314 Newnan Crossing Bypass Suite B was inspected September 2nd and received a score of 94-A. Observed pink and brown build up along walls of the ice machine. Ice machines should be clean frequently to prevent buildup. Observe single-service items stored on floor and upstairs dry storage. Observed employee hand cream by single-serve item. Person in charge moved hand cream during inspection.
Rock Salt Milk Bar, 8 East Washington St. was inspected September 1st received a score of 93-A. Observed opened and unopened containers of lemon juice with an expiration date of August 17th 2020. Observe sanitizer and wife and cloth bucket at less than minimum concentration.
Salad Express, 311 Bullsboro Dr. Suite 170 was inspected August 31st and received a score of 80-B. Observed person in charge had no knowledge of correct cooked temperature for food items. Observed steak being offered as cooked to order with no consumer advisory on menu. Observe chicken being hot held in bowl on grill / stove at 92.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Person in charge reheated all chicken on grill. Observed unopened orange juices with expiration dates of February 2020 and August 2020.
Sky Zone Newnan, 1098 Bullsboro Dr. was inspected August 28th received a score of 91-A. Observe one bottle of home-use pesticide spray near the three-compartment sink area, all pest control must be applied by a certified pest control specialist. observed open food items on dry storage shelf marked for youth enrichment programs such as cookies, chips, and pretzels. Boxes of cereals stored on floor between kitchen and party rooms. Observe single-use takeout trays stored facing upward exposing the food area to possible contamination on lower shelf of prep table. Take out tray should be stored inverted. Forks and cups on shelf marked for youth enrichment program improperly stored. Fork should be stored with the handle sticking upward to protect the food area from possible contamination. Observed one split gasket on reach-in cooler door. Observed personal drink and take out box of food stored with foods for youth enrichment camp and reach and cooler.
Smoothie King, 85 Marketplace Dr. suite A inspected August 31st received a score of 88-B. Observe strawberries at 46.7 degrees Fahrenheit, cut strawberries at 45.3° f, bananas at 43.9° f, and blueberries at 43.8° f. Food items were discarded during inspection. Observed watermelon juice past the label date of August 29th. The juice was discarded during inspection
Starbucks Coffee, 1200 Bullsboro Dr. suite A was inspected August 28th and received a score of 91-A. Did not have cleaning solution for the cleanup of vomiting or diarrheal events. Observed black and pink buildup on ice machine walls and baffles. Ice machine should be clean frequently to prevent buildup. Observed no measuring device for temperature based sanitizing dish machine.
Starbucks Coffee, 1751 Newnan Crossing Blvd. was inspected August 31st and received a score of 92-A. Observed no sign regarding employee health policy and insufficient knowledge of the reporting of symptoms or diagnosis. Observed buildup of pink and black mold-like substance on baffle of ice machine.
Steak 'n Shake, 1249 Bullsboro Dr. was inspected August 24th received a score of 96-A. Observed chili cooking in pan covered with plastic and lid inside walk-in cooler. Plastic and lid removed for proper cooling. Observed ice buildup on racks and boxes inside walk-in freezer.
