Coweta County reported its 41st death from COVID-19 on Saturday, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The victim was a 79-year-old woman. It is not known whether she had chronic health conditions that could have contributed to her death.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Coweta rose to 2,513 Monday, up from 2,483 on Friday, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Coweta’s hospitalizations rose to 123 – up two from Friday – and the case rate per 100,000 Cowetans is now 1,653, according to the DPH’s Monday data report.

Across Georgia, the DPH reported 307,339 cumulative cases on Monday and 6,604 total deaths, including 67 new deaths since Friday.

More than 27,000 people have been admitted to Georgia hospitals for COVID-19 treatment since the health crisis began, and more than 5,000 of those patients have been admitted to intensive care units.

According to statistics posted by the DPH Friday, a total of 2,770,863 molecular tests for active infections have been performed at drive-thru sites and facilities statewide, with a current positive rate of 10.3 percent.*

A total of 295,905 serology tests for antibodies from previous infections have been performed statewide, with an 8.2 percent positive rate.
