34th COVID-19 death reported in Coweta

(Sept. 10, 2020) – A 60-year-old woman’s death from COVID-19, reported by the Georgia Department of Health on Thursday, is Coweta County’s 34th fatality from the disease.

The woman had no chronic health conditions that could have contributed to her death, according to the DPH.

Coweta’s total number of COVID-19 cases rose to 2,375 Thursday, up from 2,357 on Wednesday, while hospitalizations rose to 112. The case rate per 100,000 Cowetans is now 1,562 (+19), according to the DPH.

Across Georgia, the DPH reported 289,123 cumulative cases on Thursday – up 1,836 since Wednesday – and 6,128 total deaths (+76).

More than 26,000 people have been admitted to Georgia hospitals for COVID-19 treatment since the health crisis began, and more than 4,700 of those patients have been admitted to intensive care units.

According to statistics posted by the DPH Thursday, a total of 2,542,594 molecular tests for active infections have been performed at drive-thru sites and facilities statewide, with a current positive rate of 10.4 percent.*

A total of 286,202 serology tests for antibodies from previous infections have been performed statewide, with a 7.9 percent positive rate.

*The number of positive tests is not the same as the number of cases. Some tests may not be reported to DPH through electronic laboratory reporting, and numbers may include multiple tests performed on the same individual.
