Restaurant Inspections

The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m., therefore inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Subway, 1010 Highway 34 E., was inspected Aug. 17 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector’s comments: observed reach-in cooler missing a thermometer. Observed a bag of whole onions hanging on the shelf next to single use items. Unwashed produce should be stored separately from clean equipment, single use items, and washed and ready-to-eat foods. Observed straws under soap dispenser by hand wash sink. PIC moved straws. Observed drinking cups stacked on countertop out of wrapper. PIC discarded cups.

Starbucks, 3151 Highway 34 E., was inspected Aug. 18 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: observed coconut milk at 60.6 F. PIC discarded item. Observed almond milk at 58.4 F. PIC discarded item. Served milk and 58.2 F PIC discarded item. Observed trash and boxes piled along the back and side of outside dumpster area. Areas should be cleaned to prevent pests.

Taco Bell, 3410 Highway 34 E., was inspected Aug. 18 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: observed a live slug and a dead bug by walk in cooler. Pests were disposed of.

Tienda y Taqueria Migueleno, 2015 Highway 154 Suite 106, was inspected Aug. 20 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: observed two chemical spray bottles with no labels. Observed two chemical spray bottles hanging on dish drying rack over three compartment sink. Observed food items stored on the floor such as a large bag of dry rice, cornmeal, and a large container of oil Observed to open packages of sugar and cornmeal not properly sealed after opening. Observed packages of tostadas stored underneath soap dispenser next to hand wash sink. Packages should be moved to prevent possible contamination. Observed employee dishes stored above three compartment sink with clean dishware and on rack beside ice machine with clean dishware. Observed employee water bottle stored on top of ice machine.

Viet’s Cuisine, 30 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected Aug. 12 and received a score of 75-C. Inspector’s comments: observed raw beef stored above carrots and onions, raw chicken stored above sauces – moved during inspection. Dishwasher not reaching minimum temperature of 120 F. Observed dried food particles on slicer. Observed chicken stored in covered pan cooling on prep table. Observed a box of food stored on walk-in freezer floor, food stored unpackaged inside walk-in freezer, food wrapped in newspaper inside walk-in freezer. No presence of sanitizer and wiping cloths. Observed bowl store in rice. Observed silverware stored handle down inside container. Owner only has QA sanitizer test strips has no chlorine for checking dishwasher. Observed open employee cups stored on prep table. Observed gap under back door.

WNB Factory, 1111 Lower Fayetteville Road, was inspected Aug. 19 and received a score of 100-A. Inspector’s comments: no comments.

Alley’s Barbecue, 3 Pine Ridge Dr., was inspected July 29 and received a score of 100-A. Inspector’s comments: no comments.

Barbarito‘s, 335 Newnan Crossing Bypass Suite B, was inspected Aug. 19 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: observed black build up on deflector shield of ice machine in main kitchen area. Observed buildup on soda nozzles at self-serve drink station. Observed two chemical spray bottles with no labels hanging in mop well area. Observed employee aprons stored with clean food containers in main kitchen area. Observed employee phone stored on box of plastic bags and keys and facemask next to single-use plastic food cups and plastic bags behind front food service counter.

Canongate on White Oak Clubhouse, 141 Clubview Drive, was inspected Aug. 20 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: observed employee eating in three compartment sink area. Employee left kitchen during inspection. Observed low grout between floor tiles in kitchen area near ice machine. Observed employee lunch on shelf in walk-in cooler beside and above food items. Observed personal dishes stored on dish drying rack with clean dishes. Employee items should be stored stored separate from all consumer items.

Dixie Dogz Café, 6549 Highway 54, Sharpsburg, was inspected Aug. 13 and receive a score of 96-A. Inspectors comments: observed employee wash, rinse but did not sanitize can opener.

Dixie Dogs Mobile Café, 6549 Highway 54, Sharpsburg, was inspected Aug. 13 and received a score of 100-A. Inspector’s comments: mobile unit was not in use at time of inspection

El Charro, 77 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected Aug. 17 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: observed dessert in walk-in cooler prepped on Aug. 16 not covered. Food items were covered during inspection. Observed build up on drink nozzles. Observed food particles on dicer blade. Nozzles and dicer blade cleaned during inspection. Observed employee food and walk in cooler next to consumer food. Employee food was discarded during inspection.

Goldens on the Square, 9 E. Court Square, was inspected Aug. 17 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: observed sanitizer at three compartment sink below minimum concentration. PIC had new sink of sanitizer made up. Observed expired milk and buttermilk and walk in cooler with dates of Aug. 3, Aug. 5, and Aug. 13. PIC discarded products.

La Hacienda, 941 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected Aug. 13 and received a score of 71-C. Inspector’s comments: observed employee rinsing a cup in hand wash sink next to prep sink. Hand wash sinks are to be used only for handwashing. No paper towels at hand wash sink in dry storage closet. No soap at hand wash sink in dry storage closet. Observed raw chicken stored over uncut produce, raw pork stored on box of uncut tomatoes, raw steak stored over raw fish in walk-in cooler. All foods moved to correct storage order location during inspection. Observed multiple food items in cooler drawers below grill area above proper cold holding temperature of 41 F, such as raw shrimp 53.9 F, raw chicken 48 F, raw beef 48 F, spinach 52.6 F, and raw pork 58.8 F. Foods placed an ice bath and moved to walk-in cooler. PIC called for maintenance during inspection. Observed fly strips hanging above dish area, removed during inspection. Observed one chemical spray bottle in bar area with no label, spray bottle labeled during inspection. Observed a plastic cup stored in bulk sugar bin being used as a scoop, scoops must have handles. Observed two utensils stored behind the hand wash sink, utensils should be stored in a clean, dry location. Observed plastic bag wrapped around clean dish rack being used as a splashguard, plastic bags are not considered a washable surface, a proper splashguard should be installed to prevent possible contamination. Observed employee items in kitchen areas such as book bag and water bottle and dishwashing area, headphones on top rack of dry storage shelf over packaged foods, employee drink on prep counter, water bottle on shelf below prep counter. Phone on rack with clean dishes.

Little Caesars, 3219 Highway 34 E., was inspected Aug. 14 and received a score of 89-B. Inspector’s comments: observed no signed employee health policies. Observed no cleanup chemical of sufficient volume to handle a bodily fluids event. Observed soda, bucket of sauce, and bucket of vegetable oil stored on floor. PIC moved all items off the floor. Observed unfolded pizza boxes stored with food contacts exposed. PIC flipped them upside down. Observed box of napkins and box of bags stored on floor underneath register - repeat violation. Observed employee food stored above single-service cups in dry storage. Observed employee cup stored above consumer food in walk-in cooler. Observed employee belongs stored on shelf beside clean dishes. PIC moved all employee items to correct location.

McDonald’s, 2907 Georgia Highway 85, Senoia, was inspected Aug. 18 and received a score of 100-A. Inspector’s comments: drive-through and take out only, dining area closed during inspection.

Senoia Coffee and Cafe, 1 Main St., Senoia, was inspected Aug. 18 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: observed hand wash sink in main kitchen area not operating, staff utilizing hand wash sink in front food service area. PIC stated repair order placed yesterday and will be worked on today. Observed employee drinks stored in metal container on lower shelf with cooking spray. Observed aprons hanging in dry storage rack, moved during inspection.

Panera Bread, 379 Bullsboro Drive, was inspected Aug. 24 and received a score of 93-A Inspector’s comments: observed six half-gallons of half-and-half with expiration date of Aug. 23. Half-and-half was discarded during inspection. Observed wiping cloths and a bucket of sanitizing solution not covering the cloths. Sanitizing solution was refilled during inspection. Observed two handwashing sinks leaking. Observed ice build up in walk-in freezer.

Pizza Hut, 3150 E. Highway 34, was inspected Aug. 20 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector’s comments: observed no signed employee health policies. Printed a blank copy for PIC. Observed clean pans wet stacked. PIC moved items to dry. Observed dust and black spots on ceiling vent covers and ceiling tiles throughout kitchen area and in front food service area. Observed debris on floor of walk-in cooler and beneath dry storage shelves. Repeat violation. Observed buildup on fire hood vents. Observed employee bag of chips stored in single service seasoning packets.

Popeyes, 1435 Highway 34 E., was inspected Aug. 21 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: observed build up around drink fountain nozzles. PIC cleaned drink fountain nozzles during inspection. Observed utensils in water well without running water. PIC turned on water.

Redneck Gourmet, 11 North Court Square, was inspected Aug. 20 and received a score of 87-B. Inspector’s comments: observed buildup on can opener. Can opener should be cleaned to prevent buildup. Can opener was washed during inspection. Observed coleslaw at 49.6 F, pasta salad at 49.1 F, honey mustard at 49.8 F and broccoli salad at 50.1 F. Food items were discarded during inspection.

Shiver Shack, 1004 Overby Park Drive, was inspected Aug. 22 and received a score of 100-A. Inspector’s comments: no comments.

Waffle House, 5010 Highway 34 E., Sharpsburg, was inspected Aug. 24 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: observed a knife in hand wash sink basin and a crate and box limiting access to hand wash sink and prep area. Observed dust cloths hanging on dry storage racks in dry storage closet.

Wendy’s, 135 Fischer Crossing Drive, Sharpsburg, was inspected Aug. 24 and received a score of 100-A. Inspector’s comments: no comments.
