The Newnan Times-Herald

A new facility from a national meal kit company is expected to create more than 750 new jobs in Coweta County.

Monday, HelloFresh announced plans to renovate an existing facility in Newnan, making this the company’s first distribution center in Georgia.

Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, HelloFresh is the largest meal kit provider in the United States. In 2019, the company delivered more than 281 million meals to customers in 13 countries and across three continents.

The company will utilize a 208,930-square-foot facility in Newnan, located at 510 International Park, to help better serve their customers across the Southeast.

“We are excited to make Newnan, Georgia, the newest home for HelloFresh’s rapidly growing U.S. operations,” said Uwe Voss, CEO of HelloFresh U.S. “This new distribution center supports HelloFresh’s long-term growth plans and allows us to serve even more customers with fresh, delicious recipes delivered right to their doorsteps.”

According to the press release from Gov. Brian Kemp, HelloFresh will bring hundreds of jobs to the local community, including meal distribution and assembly positions, along with associate, lead, supervisor and management opportunities.

“It is a pleasure to welcome the largest meal kit service in the U.S. to the Peach State,” said Governor Kemp. “I’m confident Newnan’s central location and our state’s unparalleled, rapidly growing logistics network will serve HelloFresh well as they invest in Georgia and bring jobs to the hardworking people of Coweta County.”

“We are excited that HelloFresh, the nation’s largest meal kit delivery service, has chosen to locate in Coweta County. Their capital investment will strengthen our local economy and the addition of good jobs will create economic opportunity for our residents and neighboring communities,” said Trae Westmoreland, president of the Coweta County Development Authority.

“We look forward to having HelloFresh as a valued corporate citizen as Coweta continues to thrive,” he continued. “We also want to thank the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia EMC and the Rooker Company for their continued economic development partnerships with Coweta County.”

“Congratulations to HelloFresh on their selection of metro Atlanta for a new distribution facility. Our region is a leading logistics hub, and I am confident HelloFresh will benefit from this metro’s industry expertise, labor pool and proximity to key markets,” said Metro Atlanta Chamber President and CEO Katie Kirkpatrick. “Thank you to all of the partners who worked to bring this project to completion.”

Project Manager Alex Jones represented the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Global Commerce division on this competitive project in partnership with the Coweta County Development Authority, Metro Atlanta Chamber and the Georgia Electric Membership Cooperative.

“We are thrilled that HelloFresh chose Coweta County for its Southeastern U.S. facility and appreciate our partners at the Metro Atlanta Chamber and in Coweta County for their support in this project,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson.

“As we continue to work together to fight COVID-19 and put Georgians back to work, our strong international economic relationships are more important than ever,” Wilson said. “Even in this unprecedented time, Georgia’s competitive advantage in infrastructure, workforce training and education, and technology — along with our probusiness climate and quality of life — is driving the attraction of foreign investments. We look forward to being a part of HelloFresh’s long-term success in Georgia.”

Local leaders praised the decision to begin operations in Coweta County.

“We are very excited about having a company as renowned as HelloFresh come to Coweta”, said Coweta County Development Authority Chairman, Ronnie Clotfelter. “HelloFresh is at the forefront of the meal delivery business and we look forward to continued collaborations with them. The jobs HelloFresh will create will be a huge benefit to Coweta.”

"HelloFresh is truly a global leader in the marketplace,” said Commissioner Bob Blackburn. “I commend the efforts of the development team, both locally and at the state level for another job well done. Welcome, HelloFresh!”

“The Board of Commissioners is very proud to have the global leader in meal kit delivery choose to locate in Coweta County as part of their expansion into the southeast region,” said Chairman Paul Poole. “With the creation of more than 750 new jobs, HelloFresh will provide immediate value to our community.”

On Monday, HelloFresh raised its 2020 guidance, saying it was seeing additional demand as a worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic in some markets led more people to dine at home.
