Coweta COVID-19 count reaches 1,425

(Aug. 5, 2020) – Coweta County’s COVID-19 infections reached 1,425 Thursday, up from 1,404 on Wednesday, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Hospitalizations rose to 96 (+1) and the case rate per 100,000 Cowetans rose to 937 (+14), according to the DPH. Twenty-two people have died from COVID-19 in Coweta.

Across Georgia, the DPH reported 204,895 cases Thursday (+3,250 from Wednesday), and 4,026 deaths (+42). The DPH also reported a total of 20,002 hospitalizations (+214) since the crisis began and 3,616 (+31) admissions to intensive care units.

According to statistics posted by the DPH Wednesday, a total of 1,724,762 molecular tests for active infections have been performed at drive-thru sites and facilities statewide, with an 11 percent positive* rate.

A total of 234,055 serology tests for antibodies from previous infections have been performed statewide, with a 6.7 percent positive rate.

*The number of positive tests is not the same as the number of cases. Some tests may not be reported to DPH through electronic laboratory reporting, and numbers may include multiple tests performed on the same individual.
