Coweta COVID-19 cases climb to 2,153

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Coweta County rose to 2,153 Thursday, up from 2,107 on Wednesday, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Coweta’s hospitalizations are at 108 (+1) and the case rate per 100,000 Cowetans rose to 1,416 (+30), according to the DPH. Twenty-six people have died in Coweta County from the disease.

Across Georgia, the DPH reported 263,074 cases on Wednesday (+2,484) and 5,393 total deaths.

A total of 24,127 people have been admitted to Georgia hospitals for COVID-19 treatment since the health crisis began, and 4,397 of those patients have been admitted to intensive care units.

According to statistics posted by the DPH Thursday, a total of 2,268,837 molecular tests for active infections have been performed at drive-thru sites and facilities statewide, with a 10.6 percent positive* rate.

A total of 272,383 serology tests for antibodies from previous infections have been performed statewide, with a 7.6 percent positive rate.

*The number of positive tests is not the same as the number of cases. Some tests may not be reported to DPH through electronic laboratory reporting, and numbers may include multiple tests performed on the same individual.
