COVID-19 infections climb to 1,359 in Coweta

(Aug. 3, 2020) – Coweta County’s COVID-19 infections reached 1,359 Monday, with 46 new cases reported over the weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Hospitalizations rose to 94 (+2) and the case rate per 100,000 Cowetans rose to 894 (+31), according to the DPH.

Across Georgia, the DPH reported 195,435 cases Monday (+5,423 from Saturday), and 3,825 deaths (+17). The DPH also reported a total of 19,124 hospitalizations (+129) since the crisis began and 3,512 (+37) admissions to intensive care units.

A total of 1,646,401 molecular tests for active infections have been performed at drive-thru sites and facilities statewide, with a 11 percent positive* rate. A total of 229,417 serology tests for antibodies from previous infections have been performed statewide, with a 6.6 percent positive rate.

The disease in the U.S. and worldwide
