It's nearly Fall. Already another summer of record high temperatures. Numerous Atlantic/Gulf storms one after another — Hurricane Marco followed by Laura veers toward Houston.
My niece, near Sacramento, is 45 miles from the California record-breaking lightning fires. She texted: "We are not in any evacuation areas. But the air is thick with smoke and ash is falling from the sky like snow. It's surreal. I feel like I'm in a war zone. The smell has seeped into the house and all our possessions. We are wearing our COVID masks just to go outside!"
Carbon levels keep rising. Ecological, costly, disastrous events keep increasing. Who will act? Who has the foresight to lead America through these difficult challenges?
We need a responsible president and an intelligent Congress with the courage to pass effective clean energy plans. A fair and balanced carbon pricing plan is critical.
