Northgate graduate dies in skydiving accident

Jeanna Renee Triplicata, 18, died during a tandem jump with an instructor from Skydive Atlanta near the Thomaston-Upson County Airport.

A Newnan teenager was killed in a skydiving accident Sunday.

Jeanna Renee Triplicata, 18, died during a tandem jump with an instructor from Skydive Atlanta near the Thomaston-Upson County Airport. The instructor – Nick Esposito, 35, of Warner Robins – also died.

The accident occurred when the primary parachute failed to open properly, according to law enforcement sources, and the emergency parachute did not have time to fully deploy.

Triplicata was a 2020 graduate of Northgate High School, where she was captain of the colorguard for the Northgate Viking Band. She planned to study education at the University of North Georgia.
