Joygina Benning and Justin Wallace recently earned college scholarships from the Newnan-Coweta and Howard Warner Boys and Girls Clubs.

Benning earned the $3,500 Ross Scholarship, and she plans to attend Georgia Southern University to study nursing. Her goal is to become a labor and delivery nurse so she can have a hands-on part in bringing life into the world.

Wallace earned the $3,000 Blue Door Scholarship, the $2,500 Charles Schwab Money Matters Scholarship, the $2,500 Rodney Cage Scholarship, the $1,000 Youth of the Year Scholarship and the $1,000 Millernease Griffin Scholarship.

Wallace plans on attending Savannah State University to study forensic science.

Lauren Odom, executive director of the Newnan-Coweta and Howard Warner Boys and Girls Clubs, said both Wallace and Benning worked hard, despite COVID-19, to obtain their scholarships.

“I’m extremely proud of Justin and Joygina for continuing to work hard and finishing the school year off strong, despite COVID-19,” Odom said. “They continued to fill out scholarship applications, and they stayed on top of it in the midst of everything shutting down.”
