Coweta County’s COVID-19 cases rose to 44 Thursday, up two from Wednesday.
As of noon Thursday, Coweta’s coronavirus-related deaths remained at two – a 42-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man.
Across Georgia, 5,348 cases and 163 deaths have been confirmed – a 3.05% mortality rate. That’s up from 4,638 cases and 139 deaths – a 3% mortality rate – reported Wednesday.
Of those confirmed COVID-19 illnesses reported Thursday, 1,056 (19.75%) have required hospitalization.
The Department of Public Health reported 3,817 infections and 818 hospitalizations Tuesday. The DPH attributed the significant increases to additional laboratories reporting to the agency and to improvements in electronic reporting from other laboratories.
According to the DPH, patient information often is incomplete and data will change over time as the agency works to complete the records.

Carroll County – 131 cases (+2), 2 deaths (+1)
Fayette County – 52 cases (+4), 4 deaths
Troup County – 20 cases (+1), 1 death
Spalding County – 18 cases (+2), 1 death (+1)
Meriwether County – 9 cases (+2), 0 deaths
Heard County – 2 cases, 1 death
The DPH does not publicly report on patients who show symptoms but have not been tested because of a lack of available tests; those whose test results have not come back yet; those who have tested positive but are asymptomatic or show mild symptoms; or those who have made full recoveries.
