Senoia postpones first week of racing action because of wet track

The Newnan Times-Herald

The scheduled Season Opener on Saturday, March 7th has been canceled. The track has received over seven inches of rain the past 10 days and officials are not confident they can have the track prepared in time for competition.

"The track is so wet we cannot even drive on it today," said track prep guru Doug Stevens. "I do not want to open the season with a track that is not going to be what I expect for our drivers and teams. Hopefully, mother nature will cooperate with us and we can get everything ready for the Spring Nationals."

The next race on the 2020 schedule is the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals set for Saturday, March 21st. The annual super late model special is slated to offer $10,000 to the winner. Previous winners include Chris Madden, Scott Bloomquist, Dale McDowell, Donald McIntosh and Jonathan Davenport. The race will also include racing in the Crate Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Chargers, Hobby, Mini Stock, Bombers and Hot Shots.

Details will be released early next week on the new plans for the first race of the season.
