Trinity basketball teams to host first-round  playoff games Friday

The Trinity Christian basketball teams will open play Friday night at home against two teams from Athens when the GHSA Class A private school division begins postseason action.

The Lady Lions open play against Prince Avenue, while the boys team plays Athens Christian.

Official times for the doubleheader will be announced later in the week.

The Lions come into the contest with a 17-10 record.

Trinity lost a 56-51 decision to Galloway in the semifinals of the Region 5 1A tournament.

The Lions knocked off Eagle’s Landing Christian 71-56 to open the region tournament and then beat Holy Innocents 60-49.

Athens Christian finished the season with a 12-12 record.

Despite its .500 record, Athens Christian won six of its last seven games.

The Lady Lions come into their first-round state playoffs with an 18-6 record.

Trinity is ranked 13th in the latest maxprep Class A rankings.

The Lady Lions lost to Holy Innocents 79-37 in the region tournament.

Before dropping that contest, Trinity won six in a row.

Prince Avenue comes into the game with a 10-12 record.

Until losing to Athens Academy in a region tournament game last week, Prince Avenue won three in a row.
