Do not be too confident your mail is being stolen.
It might be this sorry local Post Office. Even before we moved to Coweta County, we had trouble with mail being delivered. We mailed a check to our daughter for a down payment on a new home. Delivery was critical.
On January 3, 2018, I mailed the CERTIFIED LETTER from the Post Office in Pace, FL. The estimated delivery date was Saturday, January 6, 2018.
My daughter said the mortgage business would be closed on Saturday so I assured her that the USPS would be sure to deliver a CERTIFIED LETTER the following Monday.
Monday, January 8, mail delivery did not have the letter.
Tuesday, January 9, mail delivery did not have the letter. Internet tracking showed the item out for delivery on Saturday, January 6.
Wednesday, January 10, no delivery, a call to the service center included wait times of 3 hours or longer. She filed a claim, with no results.
Thursday, January 11, after a one-hour telephone HOLD, she was told it was at the Newnan Post Office to be picked up.
We moved here last June, and enrolled in the Informed Delivery Service. We have had several pieces of mail missing after an email showed the mail was in the Post Office possession. Some pieces were returned to the sender, although the address was correct. My wife lost an important Social Security letter during her enrollment.
I complained to the Post Office and was told to wait 7 days to investigate, and then after the 7 days, they couldn’t check because it was too late. Wow a Catch 22!!
What I am saying is when the Post Office sucks this bad, it might not be theft. It might be unqualified, untrained, or uncaring employees.
