Blue Bell Ice Cream is recalling some half-gallon cartons of Butter Crunch Ice Cream that may contain a foreign object.
The recalled cartons were produced at the Sylacauga, Ala. plant on Aug. 26 and have the following code on the lid: 082621222.
A consumer reportedly found a piece of a plastic tool in a half-gallon of Butter Crunch Ice Cream and notified Blue Bell. The company investigated the complaint and found that a broken tool was inadvertently incorporated into the production process in a small amount of product.
As a precautionary measure and in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Blue Bell is voluntarily recalling the full day of Aug. 26 production of Butter Crunch manufactured at the Sylacauga manufacturing facility.
The affected product was distributed in parts of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. All affected stores have been instructed to remove the product from their shelves.
There have been no reports of injuries due to the consumption of this product.
