Because of the increasing cost of newsprint, The Newnan Times-Herald will raise its single-copy newspaper price to $1 weekdays and $2 for the Sunday edition, effective immediately.
We regret the need for the price increase. However, newspapers across the country continue to face extremely difficult economic times, and we are not immune.
Historically, advertising revenue has carried the bulk of production costs for newspapers. In the last decade or so, revenue from ads has become a challenge for newspapers as more companies move their dollars away from local publications to international behemoths like Facebook and Google.
Last week, Fayette County’s free newspaper, The Citizen, announced the discontinuation of its printed paper, and has moved its content entirely online.
Fortunately, The Newnan Times-Herald has paid subscribers to help make the cost involved in printing a newspaper a little more manageable.
We hope to continue increasing our readership in the future, and we will remain dedicated to providing local journalism to our community to the best of our ability.
We appreciate your ongoing support and loyalty to your community newspaper.
