The Newnan Times-Herald

Mark Hayes Bolton, 62 of Newnan, GA unexpectedly passed away Thursday, September 18, 2019.

Mark was born April 29, 1957, in Jacksonville, North Carolina at Camp Lejeune, to Judy Hayes and Marshall Reach. Mark was later adopted by Bobby Bolton, where he took on the Bolton family name.

He graduated from Osborne High School in 1975, where he was very active in the NJROTC program. Coming from a military family was a very prideful point for Mark, as his Grandfather served in WW2, his father served in the Air Force and his brother was later a Paratrooper in the Army. Mark enlisted in the Marine Corps and graduated at Parris Island in April 1977.

He had many passions throughout his life including golfing, hunting, poker, cooking and most importantly Alabama football (ROLL TIDE!). Mark worked the majority of his life for CSX and served 30 years until his retirement. Although Mark had a tough exterior, he was an extremely kind and loving soul - always wanting the best for every person and animal he came across.

Mark was married to Lindsey Jo Cook on April 14, 2012, where they combined families and lived in Newnan.

Mark was an amazing father to Rebecca Leigh Smith, Autumn Elizabeth Stevens, Carrie Drew Stevens, Matthew D. Blumenthal(Rachel) and T. Cody Chapman(Allison). An extremely loving and doting Paw Paw to Avery, Lucas, Zane, Olivia, Klay, Reid, Galileo and Na’amah.

A caring and thoughtful brother to Walt Bolton(Danielle), Bruce Bolton and Julie Bolton. A loving uncle to Emma Blue Bolton.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark’s name to the Marine Toys For Tots program at
