The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Positano Pizza Napoletana, 316 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Suite A, Newnan – was inspected July 11 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed unlabeled chemical spray bottle. Person in charge had bottle labeled. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed employee belongings including hats and aprons stored in dry storage on top of boxes of single-service items and on food shelves. Person in charge moved items to proper location. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Shane’s Rib Shack, 55 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan – was inspected July 12 and received a score of 90-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed mini fridge filled with sour cream, salad dressings and sauces above 41F. Person in charge changed setting to make unit cooler. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed employee phone and charger stored on food prep surface and plastic wrap. Person in charge moved items to designated area. Corrected on-site. New violation. 

South GA Auction, 5454 N. Hwy. 29, Newnan – was inspected July 12 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed no measuring device for temperature-based sanitizing dish machine. New violation. Observed employee belongings like backpacks and purses on top of boxes of coffee in back storage area. Person in charge moved items to proper location. Corrected on-site. New violation. 

Starbucks, 1200 Bullsboro Drive, Suite, Newnan – was inspected July 25 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed food product in refrigerator over 41F. Cheese 66F and hot dogs 63F. New violation. Observed employees in kitchen without hair restraints. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Tienda y Taquieria Migueleño, 2015 Hwy. 154, Suite 106, Newnan – was inspected July 23 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed food particles on the slicer blade. New violation. Observed a gallon of milk in reach-in cooler exceeding expiration date of July 21, 2019. New violation.

Tin Drum, 228 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Suite 1102, Newnan – was inspected July 22 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed wiping cloth quaternary ammonium compound sanitizing solution not at proper minimum strength. Person in charge made a new bucket of sanitizer. Corrected on-site. New violation. 

Urban Air Adventure Park, 231 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan – was inspected July 17 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed employees in food service area without hair restraints. Repeat violation. Observed open bags of salt, cinnamon and sugar. Person in charge sealed bags or moved to sealable containers. Corrected on-site. New violation. 

Subway, 1010 E. Hwy. 34, Newnan – was inspected July 23 and received a score of 100-A. 

Peking Restaurant, 7280 Hwy. 16, Senoia – was inspected July 25 and received a score of 82-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed employee rinse hands in prep sink and grab cutting board and knife. Hands should be washed only in a handwash sink and using proper handwashing method. New violation. Observed heavy grease buildup on hood filters over the cooking area. New violation. 

Chapultepec Mexican Restaurant, 105 Village Circle, Suite A and B, Senoia – was inspected July 25 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed black buildup on drip area of ice machine. Ice machine cleaned during inspection. Observed one drink nozzle at drink dispenser with black buildup at top of nozzle. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed empty paper towel holder at handwash sink in main kitchen area. Paper towels refilled during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.
