Emily Vessell Brown, age 91, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at Pruitt Healthcare in Franklin surrounded by family. She was born on April 24, 1928, in Heard County, GA to the late Benjamin Harvey Vessell and Sarah Frances Fomby.
Emily worked for Uniroyal as a winder until she retired in 1990. She was a longtime member of Emory Chapel United Methodist Church and later joined Franklin First United Methodist Church.
The funeral service celebrating Emily’s life is Thursday, August 29, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan with Rev. Brett Mathews officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Along with her parents, Emily is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Brown, Sr.; daughters, Marie Brown Barnes, Julie Brown Arrington Thomas; and grandson, Adam Lee Barnes. Emily is survived by her son, Raymond Brown, Jr. and his wife Carla Brown; grandchildren, Kelly Barnes Worth, Shannon Brown McCrary (Mike), Benjamin Edward Brown (Nan), Barry Alton Barnes, Joseph Arrington, Hilary Arrington and nine great-grandchildren.
