Northgate baseball back on track

After dropping two straight games to Alexander, the Northgate Vikings got back into the win column Wednesday night at Douglas County, winning the game 13-4.

Northgate led 3-2 after the first inning, but blew the game open with eight runs in the top of the fourth to grab an 11-2 lead.

Douglas County cut the lead to 11-3 in the bottom of the fourth.

Northgate added some insurance with single runs in the sixth and seventh.

The Tigers added their final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh.

Douglas County hurt itself with five errors.

Robert Smith, Sam Jennings, Andrew Baldwin and Miles Cook each had two hits.

Cook and Shawn Ragan led the offense with two RBIs each.

Cook also finished with the Vikings only extra-base hit, pounding out a double.

Five pitchers went to the mound for the Vikings. Reid Fagerstrom pitched just one inning, striking out the side.

Cam Freeman had two strikeouts. Tommy Ivan struck out two and Darren Kirkley had one strikeout.
