The number of influenza cases in the local area has dropped to a moderate level.
For week 12 of flu season, which ended March 23, the Influenza-like illness (ILI) intensity indicator was 7. The highest ILI rating is a 10.
According to Hayla Folden, public information officer for District 4, Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been 29 confirmed influenza-associated deaths in Georgia and 1,423 influenza-associated hospitalizations in the eight-county metro Atlanta area so far in this year’s influenza season.
That total includes four deaths and 31 reported hospitalizations during Week 12.
