The number of influenza cases in the area continues to be high.
For week nine of flu season, which ended March 2, and week 10, which ended March 10, Influenza-like illness (ILI) intensity indicator was 8. The highest ILI rating is 10.
According to Hayla Folden, public information officer for District 4, Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been 19 confirmed influenza-associated deaths in Georgia and 1,330 influenza-associated hospitalizations in the eight-county metro Atlanta area since this year’s influenza season began.
That total includes two deaths and 99 hospitalizations during week 10.
