“In the Beginning,” an original play with music, will be presented at a local church on Saturday.

Greater Mt. Zion AME, 12 Richard Allen Drive, will be the venue for the play. The event will start at noon.

White Oak Grove Baptist Church, 4619 Gordon Road, Senoia will celebrate Men’s Day on Sunday.

Bishop Cecil Newton of Holy Zion Ministries will bring the message. The theme for the 8:30 a.m. service will be “Iron Sharpens Iron” with Proverbs 27:17 as its Scriptural basis.

This Sunday will be Scout Sunday at FaithCreek United Methodist Church.

Members of Troop 55 and Pack 155 and their families will be recognized. FaithCreek has sponsored these scout organizations for nearly 15 years.

Fellowship with refreshments will be held from 9-9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall, followed by worship in the sanctuary.

Sardis Baptist Church and Community Brickworks will present the Chatt Hills Community Luncheon on Wednesday at noon.

The free meal will be served at noon at the Chatt Hills City Hall meeting room, 6505 Rico Road, Chatt Hills. Community Brickworks will provide the main dish, with Sardis Baptist members providing sides. Attendees are welcome to bring a side or dessert.

Hand knitted scarves and poured canvas selections will be available as a fundraiser.

A farewell reception for JoAn Kinrade as held Jan. 6 in First United Methodist Church’s annex hall.

She came to the congregation 35 years ago as a staff spouse and then served for several years as associate pastor.

In addition to her many roles as minister of spiritual formation, Kinrade directed First Methodist’s Connect contemporary worship service. She had been involved in the church’s Cancer Care, Stephen Ministry and Safe Place ministries, as well as in personal counseling sessions, prayer meetings and services of all kinds.
