Nominations for senior of the week open

Seniors are an important part of the community who are often not recognized as much as they should be. Do you know a senior who uses their retirement time to volunteer or help others? A “Senior of the Week” will be highlighted on Sundays on the Senior Living page in The Newnan Times-Herald. To nominate someone who you think is worthy of the honor, email with the nominee’s name, why they should be the Senior of the Week, and a photo.

Senior Friends welcomes new members

Senior Friends is an independent organization of citizens from Coweta County age 55 and older. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month. Any senior in the county is welcome to attend. Lunch will be served as guests enjoy fun, fellowship and camaraderie of their fellow seniors. There is no cost, but reservations are required.

In addition to the monthly meetings, Senior Friends offers a stress-free bridge group that meets every Wednesday afternoon at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Roscoe Road from 1-4 p.m. The group also sponsors community projects and occasional group trips. For more information or to make reservations, contact Louise Swint, president, at 678 423-9289.
