Newnan soccer teams celebrated Senior Night on Friday with sound victories over visiting Troup in non-region play.
All four Lady Cougars seniors scored at least one goal in a 12-0 victory that ended before halftime by mercy rule.
Co-captain Mackenzie Robeson scored four goals and added an assist while matching a five-point outing from Sanchez.
Sanchez finished with three goals and two assists as Newnan’s girls improved its record to 10-2-2 over- all with three non-region games left next week before opening the GHSA Class 7A playoffs as the No. 3 seed from Region 2-7A.
Senior Rachel Allen also scored twice and co- captain Hannah Marriaga also contributed a goal among Newnan’s four upperclassmen.
Goals were also scored by Reece Lay and Natalie Brauchler while Ryanne Hart added an assist.
Newnan’s boys built a comfortable three-goal lead at halftime en route to a 4-1 win over Troup in its final home game of the 2018 season.
It was the 10th victory for the Cougars, the most for the program since 2013.
Newnan honored its four seniors, co-captains Alex Glomba and Rogelio Landero, Jack Ware and Chris Jimenez.
Glomba pushed Newnan’s lead to 2-0 with a successful penalty kick before a scramble in front start- ing with a header from junior Giovanni Enriquez resulted in a ball ricocheting off a Troup defender.
